Summary of the Role

The Senior Security Specialist will be responsible for assessing our current security posture, implementing industry best practices, and leading the development of a robust security framework tailored to our organisation's needs.



The IT Security Specialist will report to the Global Head of IT and work collaboratively with existing IT staff to integrate security measures seamlessly into our operations. 



Your Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment: Conducting regular assessments to identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities in the organization's IT infrastructure.
  • Security Architecture: Designing and maintaining a robust security architecture that includes firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security technologies.
  • Advanced Security Measures: Lead the initiative in developing and implementing state-of-the-art security measures, utilizing the latest technologies and proactive strategies to strengthen the organization's cybersecurity stance against emerging threats, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Incident Response: Leading the response to security incidents, including investigating security breaches, coordinating with relevant teams, and implementing corrective measures.
  • Compliance: Ensuring that the organization complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to information security.
  • Security Audits: Conducting regular security audits to assess the effectiveness of security controls and identify areas for improvement.
  • Vulnerability Management: Monitoring and managing vulnerabilities in the organization's systems, including applying patches and updates in a timely manner.
  • Security Policies and Procedures: Developing and implementing security policies, standards, and procedures to safeguard the organization's information assets.
  • Security Incident Reporting: Generating and presenting regular reports on the organization's security posture, including incidents, vulnerabilities, and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Security Collaboration: Collaborating with other IT teams, management, and external partners to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to security.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborating with a team of security professionals, providing guidance, setting objectives, and ensuring the overall effectiveness of the team.


Preferred Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A master's degree or relevant certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in information security roles, with a focus on security architecture, incident response, and risk management.
  • Preferred certifications include CISSP, CISM, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or equivalent certifications demonstrating expertise in information security management and practices.
  • Proven experience in leading security incident response activities and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in conducting security audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability management.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing security policies, procedures, and controls.
  • In-depth knowledge of security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, encryption, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Proficiency in security monitoring tools and techniques for detecting and responding to security incidents in real-time.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and cloud computing platforms.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and GDPR.
  • Experience with security assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess complex security issues and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Leadership skills to provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to junior team members.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive approach to staying updated with emerging security threats and technologies.
